Fit & Fabulous Series Week 7

Happy Motivation Monday Fit & Fabulous Followers!

I hope you had a happy a successful week last week and are enjoying the series so far. So last week was all about bouncing back on track so this week is all about staying focused and moving forward. This week I really want to concentrate on my diet. I want to make a conscious effort to ensure that I am eating as healthy as possible. My plan is to eat small regular meals throughout the day. Ensuring that I get all the right vitamins and nutrients in order to have a healthy and happy body. I am going to make sure I drink enough water daily about 2/3 liters. Last week I did increase my intake but didn't drink as much as I would like too. I want to cut out coffee completely. I am still finding this hard but find that drinking herbal teas are helping with my craving. Especially the Fabuloss Detox Tea Morning Boost.

Last week I made it to 3 classes in the gym that I go to. I was happy about this because I reached my goal. It felt so good to be back at class after missing it the week before due to having the flu. I hope to attend 3 times again this week as I am still recovering and don't want to over do it. I got some cardio in by going for a short run on Friday and Saturday and walked my dog on Sunday. Its all about baby steps but I know I'll get there. This week my plans for working out are the same as last week. I will attend circuits tomorrow and Thursday and on Wednesday I will go to kettle bell class. A lot of you were asking what gym I attend. It is called Ultra Fit Studios and it is in Castlebar in Co. Mayo. I pay 50Eur a month. At the moment there is a special on where you get unlimited classes on circuits, kettle bells and spinning as well as free use of the gym. I love this gym, its like none other I've been too and all the trainers are amazing. You can check out the website here

What workouts have you got up to this week? Do you have any tips or advice about getting back on track? If so I would love to know. Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and messages. I am more than happy to hear from you and am open to any feedback, advice or any requests you may have for topics for blog posts.

Thank you for reading!

Until next time...

37 West Galway Review! #healthyisthenewsexy

Hi Everyone!

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a good week and are enjoying your weekend so far. As most of you know I am a member of the Into The West Blogger Network. Before we had our last event in May where we celebrated the very first birthday of the network, you can read about it here.  Sinead and Saibh decided to have an #itwbn twitter party. One of the prizes on the night was lunch for two at 37 West in Galway. I was lucky enough to be the winner. I was delighted!

So last Monday I decided to go shopping with my Mum and treat her to lunch in 37 West and boy were we in for a treat. For any gymbunnies or clean eaters out there it is a dream come true. When we arrived it was lunch time so it was very busy. We were greeted straight away by a friendly girl who immediately brought us to our table. She gave us menus and brought us a huge jug of water with mint leaves in it. I was so excited because I love this touch and I love how refreshed you feel after drinking it. She gave us a few minutes to decide what we would like to order. I choose ' The Superfood Salad' and my Mum had a 'Smoked Salmon Salad' which was on special that day, we also ordered brown bread for a side portion.

Even though the restaurant was so busy we didn't need to wait long for our salads to arrive. The presentation was lovely and looked and smelt so delicious. The salad was so fresh and crisp and the chicken was so nice. Mum absolutely loved her meal too. We didn't realize just how big the portions were when we ordered the bread on the side but we kept eating because it was so yummy. The brown bread was also gorgeous it was like it was freshly baked that morning.

When we finished our meal of course we had to get dessert, we have heard so many good reviews about the juices and smoothies 37 West makes so we just had to try one. We both decided on 'The LB Chocolate Date'. I make my own juices and smoothies at home and am always researching and trying new recipes, but I think its safe to say that 'The LB Chocolate Date' is by far the nicest 'dessert style smoothie' I have ever tasted. It is to die for! My Mum and I both loved it.

Overall I had a very pleasant experience at 37 West and cannot wait to visit again. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and there is so much to choose from. Pat Divilly helped with the menu to ensure that the healthiest options are available to 37 West customers. What more could you ask for?

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the lovely staff at 37 West for been so kind and welcoming. All of your hard work did not go unnoticed. So Thank you again! I can't wait for my next visit. I would also like to thank Saibh and Sinead for introducing me to my new favourite place to eat in Galway!

Have any of you visited 37 West? What meals would you recommend? If any of you haven't been and go after reading my review, please let me know. I'd love to know your thoughts!

Until next time...

Fit & Fabulous Series Week 6 | Getting back on track

Hi Guys!

I hope you all had a great Monday and are motivated for the week ahead. I am so deeply sorry about the lack of posts over the last few weeks. I have been very busy working and think I got a little burnt out with everything that is going on and then I got the flu. So I am so sorry again and I hope you forgive me. Today is the first day in about two weeks that I feel that I am back to myself again so from tomorrow I will be back at it. I mean it, I just needed today off to fully recover but I know I'm better now and ready to get back on track.

I am going to be honest with you last week when I was sick my diet and exercise were so bad. I couldn't exercise because I kept getting dizzy every time I stood up and I could taste anything so I skipped meals especially breakfast I couldn't face it and then when I did eat I didn't make healthy choices. I am so ashamed of myself for doing this especially because I was working so hard up until been sick. The last couple of days as I was improving I made better choices and it made me a lot happier. Not only in a weight loss kind of view but I just love eating healthy. It makes you feel so much better about yourself, your confidence and self-esteem levels rise, you become more positive, your outlook on life is brighter, your skin, hair and eyes will just glow what more could you want. If that isn't enough motivation for me to get off my but I don't know what is...

My Goals for this week...

Drink 2/3 liters of water daily
Go to the Gym at least 3 times this week
Go to bed early and make sure I get proper recovery
Start my ab and squat challenge again
Start my Fabuloss Detox Tea tomorrow
Begin and end each day with gentle stretches
Stop snacking between meals
Make healthy choices.

I am also going to try and bring some of my workouts outside. The weather here hasn't been great here lately so it has nearly been impossible to go out for a walk for more then 10 minutes. I want to improve my cardio and get back into running this week also. I am going to increase my intake of fruts and vegetables this week aswell as doing the Fabuloss Detox Tea detox. I have tried the morning boost tea from this detox and it tasted like any other fruity herbal tea which was nice. I had no nasty side effects except fot a slight headache but that is to be expected in some detoxes. I will keep you posted on how this goes. For snacks out and about I love Quest Protein bars and for a cheeky treat I bought these Cookie Shots which are raw, vegan, gluten, dairy and wheat from and taste delicious. I bought these in Super Valu for 3.49 Eur they are in the healthy alternative section.

So guys I really hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for all of you requests, comments, emails and kind words so far. I really appreciate it!

Fit & Fabulous Series Week 5 | Rest and Rejuvenation

Hi Guys!

Happy Monday! This weeks 'Fit & Fabulous Series', is going to be a little bit different. Over the past month or so I have been working really hard, at work, at the gym and of course my blog as well as a few more things that I will fill you all in very soon. Although I love keeping very busy and am truly grateful for all the exciting opportunities coming my way. I am exhausted and have felt completely overwhelmed the last couple of weeks. I give 110% into everything I do but to be honest over the last couple of weeks I have taken on to much and have reached burn out. I suffer with hay fever any way but now I have a virus. So, for this weeks 'Fit & Fabulous Series' I want to highlight the importance of taking time out and looking after you body and mind.

1. Take the evening and night completely off. Switch off you phone, lock the door and close the curtains. Not being rude or anything.

2. Make yourself a healthy meal rich in vitamins and nutrients. Treat yourself to a nourishing dessert be that a raw cacao smoothies or natural Greek yogurt with raspberries and one piece of dark chocolate.

3. Treat yourself to a mini at home facial, really concentrate on looking after your skin.

4. Have a relaxing bubble bath, I love using homemade bath bombs  from Lush or Nia.

5. Paint your nails.

6. Watch a movie.

7. Read a book or your favourite magazine.

8. Meditate.

9. Go to bed early.

10. Wake up and drink a glass of warm water, mint leaves and lemon.

If you are still feeling unwell, you may need a little more TLC. Take the day off work if possible and really look after yourself. Rest and relax if needed look for some outside help be that from a health shop or your doctor which ever root you want to take. We all need some down time every now and again. And believe me you will get through it not matter how ill you feel it all depends on how we look after our bodies and minds.

I really hope you enjoyed this post, I know it is a lot different from my usual nearly boot camp filled posts, but I promise I will be back at it next week. I wanted to be honest with you all and  not make out I am doing all these workouts when really I was curled up with a face mask on.

Until next time...

Over Night Oats Recipe

Hi Everyone!

Earlier today I posted a picture on instagram, facebook and twitter of my breakfast this morning which is the now infamous 'Over Night Oats', well infamous on The7amClub on facebook created by none other than FacesByGrace. Follow her on everything because she is so cool! When I first heard of these I couldn't understand why everyone was getting so excited about them. I used to love porridge but now the thought makes me sick. I think its very heavy. But after all the hype I decided last night to make some for breakfast this morning to see what all the fuss was about. Everyone in The7amClub loves these for breakfast and has there own recipe so I think this recipe is a few combined but you can mix it up to the way you like it.

Bella and Vogue's Over Night Oats Recipe

I began with 30gs of Flahavan's Microwave Quick Oats, using the scope that comes with the Oats, I placed them into a jar.
I then used the same scoop again and added two 30g scoops of coconut milk and added it into the jar with the oats.
I then added a tablespoon of Chia Seeds to the mixture and mixed in jar.
I left this in the fridge overnight.
This morning I mixed the oats, coconut milk and chia seeds to ensure the they weren't to sticky.
I then chopped a banana and placed it on top of the oats.
I then chopped 4 strawberries and a small handful of blueberries and placed them on top of the banana.
I then drizzled low-fat natural yogurt over the top and decorated with three chopped walnuts.

Breakfast is served!

Enjoy!

Have you tried 'Over Night Oats' before? If so, how do you make them? I would love to hear your recipes and try them out. If any of you try my recipe I would love to know your thoughts. You can let me know by commenting below, on instagram (bellaandvogue), on twitter (KerrieAnne_ox) or on facebook (Bella and Vogue-Blog).

Fit & Fabulous Series Week 4

'When you feel like quitting, think about why you started!'

Happy Motivational Monday Beauties!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, mine was a busy one. But thankfully I still got my workouts in. As mentioned in my previous 'Fit & Fabulous' post, I am working full time and longer days over the next couple of weeks so I miss my usual fitness class. But that's okay because sometimes switching up your routine does you the world of good. Instead of neglecting my workouts I have created my own that I can do at home. Of course taking parts that I have learnt from classes too. I do not believe in weighing myself any more as when I was younger and trying to lose weight I would be very hard on myself if I gained a pound or my weight stayed the same. That is why now I am taking weekly shots this way I can really see the difference.

'When I'm dripping in sweat I feel like a BAD ASS!'

My goals for this week are:

1. Increase my water intake, (I have been terrible this week and have really noticed the difference.)
2. Cut out the coffee, I'm really finding this hard. If  any of you have any ideas on how I can do this please feel free to let me know!
3. Eat as clean and green as possible!
4. Avoid snacking between meals and get into a better routine.
5. Continue with my ab and squat challenge.
6. Work on my love-handles!

'Run faster, eat better, sleep longer, try harder, aim higher, love more, day by day get happier!'

Even though I am missing my very intense kettle bell and circuit classes I am happy to say that I am still seeing results from working out at home. I do think I would see more if I was in class but sometimes you have to make sacrifices. I am craving going back to the gym but I know I will workout even harder when I return. On the plus side though, I am loving the ab and squat challenge I downloaded on my IPhone. I can really see definition lines on my tummy and the abs are peeking, my glutes feel strong and my booty is tighter and higher!

'Fail to prepare... Prepare to fail!'

We are four weeks into the 'Fit & Fabulous Series' and I am really enjoying it so far. I have always loved fitness but my interest in taking care of my body is getting bigger. Not only because of the results I am seeing but the way I am feeling. As most of you know I am a Beauty and Complementary Therapist so I know well how to look after the well being of your body and mind but now I want to further my knowledge on how the food we eat and the exercise we do effects our mind and body. I would love if any of my readers are Nutritionists or Personal Trainers/Fitness Instructors would give me some advice on where to start or any courses or workshops coming up that would be beneficial to attend.

So guys, I hope you enjoyed this post and are enjoying the 'Fit & Fabulous Series' so far. If you have any questions, requests or recommendations please feel free to contact me on facebook at Bella and Vogue-Blog, instagram at bellaandvogue or twitter at KerrieAnne_ox

Until next time...

Happy Sunday!

At the weekends there is nothing I love more then dressing up and going out for lunch or dinner or exploring a new place. Today I spent the day in Westport. Westport isn't actually that far from where I live but every time I go there I feel like a tourist and discover something new. There is always something to do in Westport and there is always such a nice holiday atmosphere. Here are some of my favourite places...

Ylang Ylang Health Store | They have the best natural skincare product selection, including Kinvara and Nia
Westport Plaza Hotel | I love the relaxed and chilled out atmosphere for lunch, dinner or even for a cocktail before hitting town!
Spa Sula  | I love the decor here and the staff are helpful and friendly.
Westport Leisure Park  | This place has it all from a gym, swimming pool, fitness classes, beauty clinic, massage clinic and aerobic studio.
Just Baked | For something sweet.

Hope you all have a great week!

Until next time...
